Light is born from Darkness
After years of supporting people in some of the most challenging moments and experiences, I had been reminded repeatedly of a simple truth:
Sometimes, it is necessary to venture into the heart of darkness....
to discover a forgotten or abandoned light.
I have walked people through addiction, illness, trauma, suicidal ideations, supporting suicide survivors, and the dark night(s) of the soul.
Each time, I have observed these individuals encountering a long-forgotten or desired aspect on some level.
Every one of them had lost the light in their eyes and had been living with a diminished sense of vitality... just getting by or barely surviving in some cases.
Positive thinking made them feel worse.
Reciting affirmations dampened their inner voice.
Forced optimism felt like an insult to their emotional state.
Healing modalities and techniques worked temporarily, if at all.
After contemplation and SAFELY guided introspection, they arrive at a threshold.
This threshold symbolized a significant choice (or series of choices) to be made. The choices were not necessarily easy, yet they were resonant for the individual.
They were being asked to turn their attention inward and stop running, numbing, hiding, avoiding, pacifying, and reaching for an external fix.
Their inner guidance continued to ask them to address the matter (aka mater, which also means mother) to see what has been giving them trouble.
This is where the magic happens—and not magic in the sense of an out-of-body experience, yet the magic of the archetypal mater (mother) and spirit (father) weaving the light with the dark, mending invisible wounds and decades of unfinished business.
It doesn't happen overnight or in a way that makes logical sense since it is beyond the mind.
The process happens with acceptance, presence, and strengthening of the egos' capacity to hold opposing forces/energy/emotions.
A return of the light... while learning how to be with the dark.
I feel honored to witness lovely and entrusting souls as the fragmented pieces of their stories return as the psyche receives and integrates them.
